Bone Health
-
Decreased bone density (osteopenia) is common in individuals with chronic neutropenia — perhaps more common than in the normal population.
 -
Long-term use of G-CSF may increase the likelihood of osteopenia.
 -
SCNIR studies have not shown an increase in osteoporosis or fractures, but data are incomplete
 -
DEXA scans can measure bone density in adults and adolescents, but require special interpretation for children.
 -
Lifestyle practices can promote bone health.
